I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Sherington CE School. I hope that this website will give you a flavour of life here and will encourage you to join us at Sherington. We are federated with another small village infant school, St Andrews CE Infants in Great Linford and we are known as St Andrew’s and Sherington Church of England Schools Partnership. This means we work closely sharing our vision and values across both sites and this enriches what we offer all of our children.
Sherington CE School was founded in 1872 and has served the local community since that time. We are very much a part of the community and greatly value the part played by all those involved in the daily life of the school.
Our aim is to realise the potential of all our children in a happy, safe and caring environment. This ethos rests upon mutual respect and encouragement within a context of Christian belief and practice. We are extremely proud to have been graded 'Outstanding' in May 2015 when we received our SIAMS inspection.
We provide a rich learning environment and encourage all our children to be active in the learning process and develop the skill of independence.
Our Ofsted School Inspection in May 2015 graded our school 'Good' with 'Outstanding' judgements in Behaviour and Safety of pupils. The inspection recognised that "Pupils are extremely enthusiastic about their lessons. They concentrate and do their best at all times. Pupils make good progress in reading, writing and mathematics and reach above average standards."
As an infant school we keep literacy and numeracy as core features of our teaching, however, we place a great emphasis on the ‘whole’ child and provide a wide range of experiences for our children. In the last few years we have experienced Book Week, Harvest Festival, Whole School Nativity, Maypole Dancing, Music Festival and creative partnership projects with a visiting artist in collaboration with our sister school and other local small village schools.
This website can only give you a flavour of our school. The best way to appreciate us is to visit. You will then experience first-hand our unique nature and see the advantages we offer our pupils. I hope to meet you soon.
