It is really important that parents and carers work with us to ensure children stay safe in their use of technology. When we talk about e-safety, we are not just talking about the internet. We are talking about the use of computers, games consoles (such as X-Box), mobile phones, televisions, tablets (such as the iPad) and many other things.
There are several elements to e-safety:
How to use the internet safely; discussing appropriate use of the internet and what to do when we find something inappropriate.
How to keep ourselves safe; discussing personal details and keeping those to ourselves, learning to ask adults for help when unsure.
How to behave when using technology; respecting the tools we use to access technology, including phones, tablets, games consoles as well as computers and laptops. Discussing how to look after these items and how to ensure we don't ruin the experience of these tools for other people. Respecting other people online and what to do when other people are unkind, including cyber bullying.
